In July 2014, I led a team at my school to design and build a battery-powered electric vehicle for the EV Challenge, an outreach project that invites schools across South Africa to build a car to set specifications and race it around a short track for an hour, judged on laps completed. Our round was hosted with the Rotary Club of Nelspruit at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga.

Leading a team on something mechanical and electrical, under a hard deadline, was a different kind of problem-solving to maths competitions — more about coordinating people and testing under pressure than working something out on paper. We finished 2nd for our school.

It's the same instinct I lean on now building software: get a working version in front of people, test it, and fix what breaks before the deadline.

Have a system in mind? Let's build it.

Tell us what you need and we will come back to you with honest next steps — no hard sell.
