Mintek provincial maths and science competition win
In July 2015, I won the Mintek provincial maths and science competition at Cyril Clarke Secondary, and went on to become a finalist at Mintek's headquarters in Johannesburg.
In February 2016, I was awarded top learner in mathematics in the public schools category at the Mbombela Excellence Awards, held at the civic centre in Mbombela.
The award recognised results across public schools in the region, and I was proud to receive it alongside the Deputy Minister of Basic Education, Reginah Mhaule, who attended the ceremony.
It was an early marker of the discipline that mathematics rewards — the same kind of structured, detail-first thinking that now shows up in how I approach software engineering.
