Terms of Service
STM Analytics · Last Updated: October 2026
STM Analytics ("STM Analytics", "we", "us" or "our") is a South African software engineering company. We design, build and maintain software for businesses, and we build and run our own software products, including the STM CV Builder.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our website, blog and contact forms and our products (together, the "Service").
By accessing or using the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of them, please do not use the Service.
If you use the Service on behalf of a business or other organisation, you confirm that you are authorised to accept these Terms on its behalf.
2.1 Software engineering services: we provide custom software development, including web applications, mobile apps, fintech and e-commerce systems, integrations, data and reporting, AI features, cloud and DevOps, and contract engineering. What our website says about these services is general information, not an offer.
2.2 Client projects: every client engagement is covered by a separate written agreement, such as a proposal, statement of work or service agreement. That agreement sets out the scope, fees, timelines, ownership of the work and support. For that engagement it takes precedence over these Terms where the two differ.
2.3 STM CV Builder: an online product for building professional CVs. You can choose a template and build and preview your CV without an account. To download it you need a free, verified account. Classic templates, PDF and Word downloads and CV import are free. Templates with a profile photo ("Premium templates") can be previewed for free and are unlocked for download with a once-off payment, as described in section 5.
2.4 CV import and writing help: when you upload a CV or ask for writing help, its text may be processed by an artificial-intelligence service provider on our behalf to fill in or improve your CV. Always review the result before you use it. You remain responsible for the accuracy of your CV.
When you contact us about a project, we use the details you give us to reply, as described in our Privacy Policy.
Estimates, quotes and proposals are based on the information available at the time. They become binding only when both parties accept a written proposal or agreement.
You need an account to download a CV or buy Premium templates, and you must give accurate information when you create it. A CV you build before signing in is saved on your device and moved into your account when you sign in or register. You are responsible for:
- Keeping your account credentials confidential.
- Restricting access to your account and devices.
- All activity that takes place under your account.
Please tell us immediately if you suspect any unauthorised use of your account.
5.1 Premium templates: the price is shown before you pay. It is a single, once-off payment, not a subscription, and nothing renews automatically. It unlocks all Premium templates for download for as long as your account exists, including Premium templates we add later.
5.2 Delivery: access is added to your account as soon as our payment partner confirms the payment, usually within seconds. If access is not added within a reasonable time, contact us with your payment reference and we will resolve it.
5.3 Refunds: Premium templates are digital content made available immediately, so payments are generally non-refundable once access is granted, except where the law requires a refund (including under the Consumer Protection Act and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act). If you are charged twice for the same unlock, or you pay but never receive access, we will refund you.
5.4 Contributions: optional contributions towards the free CV builder are voluntary payments to STM Analytics, a for-profit company. They are not donations to a charity or public benefit organisation. No section 18A tax certificate is issued, and contributions do not unlock any feature. They are non-refundable except where the law requires a refund.
5.5 Client projects: fees, invoicing and payment terms for client work are set out in the agreement for that project.
5.6 Payment processing: online payments are processed securely by PayFast. STM Analytics never receives or stores your card details.
You agree not to use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or in any way that could harm, disrupt or interfere with it. In particular, you must not:
- Upload or send content that is offensive or harmful, or that infringes anyone else's rights.
- Try to gain unauthorised access to the Service or to related systems or networks, or test their security without our written permission.
- Use the Service to send spam or other unsolicited messages.
- Impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your connection with one.
- Copy, resell or scrape the Service, its templates or content, or access it with automated tools, without our prior written consent.
The Service, including its software, templates, design and articles, belongs to STM Analytics and its licensors. It is protected by copyright, trademark and other laws of South Africa and other countries. You may share links to our articles and quote short extracts if you credit us.
You may not use our name, logo or other trademarks in connection with any product or service without our prior written consent.
The CV content you create remains yours. Ownership of software we build for a client is set out in that client's agreement.
The Service relies on third-party providers, such as PayFast for payments, Google and Facebook for sign-in, and providers for hosting, email and AI. Their own terms apply when you use them. We are not responsible for their availability or for how they run their services.
Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. It explains what personal information we collect and how we use and protect it.
We may suspend or close your account if you breach these Terms. You can delete your account at any time from your profile page, or by contacting us. Sections that by their nature should survive termination, such as intellectual property and limitation of liability, continue to apply.
We work hard to keep the Service accurate, secure and available, but it is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that a CV made with it will lead to an interview or a job.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, STM Analytics is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential loss arising from your use of the Service. This includes loss of data, profits or goodwill. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits any right you have under the Consumer Protection Act or any other law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Liability for client projects is governed by the agreement for that project.
We may update these Terms from time to time. If a change is material, we will try to give at least 30 days' notice before it takes effect. By continuing to use the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, and the South African courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
If you have any questions about these Terms, email us at stmanalyticss@gmail.com or use our contact page.
