Engineering with PyCentric
We work with PyCentric, an engineering-led technology consultancy, on a contract basis — contributing software engineering to the systems they deliver for South African businesses.
PureTax is a tax and accounting practice in Alberton, Gauteng, that looks after individuals and businesses: personal and corporate tax returns, bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, company registrations, tax planning and SARS audit support. Their promise is in their tagline — accuracy you can count on.
We were engaged to build PureTax's full system: the platform that presents the practice, explains its services and pricing, and gets new clients talking to a practitioner as quickly as possible.
The brief
Tax is stressful, and people looking for an accountant are usually short on time. The system had to do three things well:
- Build trust immediately. SARS-registered practitioners, clear services and transparent package pricing, visible from the first screen.
- Make it effortless to get started. Phone, email and WhatsApp a tap away on mobile, with document submission that fits how clients already work.
- Be fast everywhere. Many visitors arrive on a phone, on mobile data. Pages had to load quickly and stay readable on small screens.
What we built
- A service catalogue that answers questions before they're asked. Each service — from individual tax returns to SARS audit representation — explains what's included, so prospects can self-qualify.
- Package-based pricing, presented clearly. Transparent monthly packages make the decision easier and reduce back-and-forth.
- Mobile-first contact flows. Click-to-call, click-to-WhatsApp and email, designed for thumbs first and desktops second.
- A modern, maintainable code base. Built on Laravel with a utility-first CSS pipeline, so content and pricing changes are quick and low-risk.
- Containerised deployment. The application ships as a Docker image, which keeps environments consistent from a developer's laptop to production.
